Minute (min)

One minute contains 60 seconds. In everyday life, this is one of the most commonly used units: for time points, appointments, sports performances, and musical lengths, this is the most convenient measure.

Hour (h)

One hour means 60 minutes, that is, 3600 seconds. The rhythm of modern society is built around hours – work time, transportation, even our sleep cycles align with it.

Day (d)

One day consists of 24 hours. This is based on Earth's rotation, meaning this much time passes between two consecutive noons. Although it seems simple, Earth's rotation isn't completely uniform, so precise time is occasionally corrected with leap seconds.

Week (wk)

The week is one of the most important units of social time organization. It consists of seven days and is based on religious, cultural traditions. The days of the week were named after ancient planets – Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn.

Month (mo)
